A directory of civil, family, child protection, and med-arb (mediation-arbitration) mediators across BC. Mediators offer service in various languages and set their own fees, as listed in their profiles. They are impartial and won’t make decisions for you. Pro bono family mediation

North Shore Pro Bono

Pro bono (free) family mediation for low-income individuals with concerns in the areas of property division, support, and custody. The first step is to complete the initial intake mediation form on their website. The form can be filled out online, emailed, or printed out and mailed to the office.

A voluntary, confidential program for parties going through separation and/or divorce who don’t have lawyers and can’t afford the collaborative team for their case. You must be willing to meet and negotiate using the principles of collaborative practice, and must meet the eligibility requirements.

Poverty law advocate and community-based victim services

Cowichan Women Against Violence Society

The Poverty Law Advocacy program provides free and confidential service to people with poverty-related legal issues including human rights, employment, debt and collections, and tenancy. Helps with appealing denials and applying for provincial and federal benefits of all kinds.

Courthouse Libraries BC

Provides legal information services to the public via a network of libraries in BC courthouses. You’re encouraged to call or email before visiting as they can provide many services this way and can save you time. The libraries provide access to staff expertise, print and digital legal collections, and public computers.
