A province-wide toll-free telephone service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide criminal law advice. You can call to speak to a lawyer if you’re arrested, detained, or under active investigation by the police or another law enforcement agency for a criminal offence, but not yet charged, and in need of emergency legal services.

Offers representation for people who have applied for a review panel hearing with the Mental Health Review Board under the Mental Health Act, and for people who have a BC Review Board hearing under the Mental Disorder Provisions of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Lawyers for people in detention at the Canada Border Services Agency’s enforcement centre in Vancouver. They can give advice regarding procedures and your legal rights, and may appear on your behalf at detention hearings. You don’t have to meet financial eligibility requirements for these services.

Lawyers who can help you in Provincial Court if you’re charged with a crime, and can’t get a legal aid lawyer, or haven’t yet applied for legal aid. They can give you advice about the charges, court procedures, and your legal rights, and can represent you at a bail hearing. If there’s time, duty counsel can help with a guilty plea.

Information, referrals, and help for residential tenancy law matters (renting) in BC. They help with common problems such as tenancy agreement forms, repairs, eviction, quiet enjoyment, security deposits, fixed-term leases, rent increases, termination of services, and dispute resolution.

A voluntary, confidential program for parties going through separation and/or divorce who don’t have lawyers and can’t afford the collaborative team for their case. You must be willing to meet and negotiate using the principles of collaborative practice, and must meet the eligibility requirements.

Free online family mediation and advice services for low- and modest-income families across BC. Family mediation is a collaborative way for parties to come to an agreement on issues that come up when a marriage or common-law relationship ends, including property division, debt division, parenting arrangements, child support, and spousal support.

This service provides support and referrals to people in BC whose intimate images have been shared (or threatened to be shared) without their consent. They can contact online platforms and/or perpetrators to request the removal of images, and help make a claim with the Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT) for an order to get the images removed.

The clinic provides notarial, administrative, and emotional support to lower-income folks who would like help with name and gender marker change processes.
