Nicola Valley Community Justice Services Society

Provides legal advocacy services to people with low incomes who need legal information, advice, or representation on a wide range of legal problems such as income security, housing, disabilities, violence, and debt. It also provides public legal education and support for community organizations wishing to help clients with legal problems.

Okanagan Advocacy & Resource Society (OARS)

Provides basic information on poverty law and policy, and on potential next steps, so that people can make an informed choice when they face a problem. Issues covered include welfare, tenant information, EI, Canada Pension Plan disability, and more. They offer referrals for other issues. Please note, they don't give legal advice.

Haida Gwaii Legal Project Society

Provides legal information and workshops offering legal education, information, and resources. Encourages individuals to solve their personal problems with the available but limited resources on Haida Gwaii, and ensures low-income people get access to legal information, legal advice, and legal representation.

Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society

Family Law advocate provides support, legal information, assistance, and referrals to low-income women, men, and teens facing legal challenges related to family law. The Poverty Law advocate provides free advocacy, representation, and assistance to low-income women and men, including EI, benefits, PWD, CPP, CPP-D, FMEP, tenancy, WCB, mental health.

Terrace and District Community Services Society (TDCSS)

The Family Law advocate services include legal information, referrals, summary advice, and client advocacy for people facing family law issues such as divorce, separation, and protection orders. The Poverty Law advocate provides on-one-one advice (referral, summary advice, or full representation) to low-income clients on a variety of legal topics.

Women’s Contact Society

For women and men. Family Law Program help includes separation and divorce (for married or common-law), separation agreements, and child and spousal support. Poverty Law Program help includes income assistance, appeals and tribunals, disability, applications and appeals, pensions, tenancy, dispute resolution, bankruptcy and debt, and employment.

Native Courtworker and Counselling Association of British Columbia

Provides counselling, guidance, support, advice, referrals, education, and advocacy for First Nations, Indigenous families, and clients involved in child protection issues and other family matters. The advocate may also coordinate services needed by families or individuals in distress and will work closely with local reserves or community services.

The family law advocate helps with issues including child protection, guardianship, support, and separation and divorce. The poverty law advocate provides information, support, and one-on-one advocacy to get provincial and federal benefits and services. The legal advocate also helps with other issues such as debt and WCB.
