Tribunals & administrative law
Last reviewed March 2024 by the Clicklaw editors
Administrative law makes sure the government and its agencies deal with people fairly, such as when you’re getting a driver’s licence or applying for benefits. It also administers rules for things like employment, housing, health care, unions, and industry.
If you had a dispute with your landlord, you would go to the Residential Tenancy Branch. Other tribunals include the Employment Standards Tribunal, the Labour Relations Board, and the Human Rights Tribunal. Tribunals are similar to courts, but they are easier to reach, less formal, quicker, and less costly.
